Edward J. Hinman medical informatics collection, 1969-1990.

Scope and contents: Board meeting notes, drafts of by-laws and constitutions, reports, correspondence, conference packets, and publications (1969-1980; 6.25 linear feet) represent materials collected by Edward J. Hinman during his executive involvement with the activities of six interrelated medical informatics societies from the late 1960s to 1990. Oversized materials include membership lists, articles of amendments, and a certificate of incorporation. The collection primarily highlights Hinman's service as a board member, society president, committee chair, treasurer, and policy creator for the six organizations represented here. Of particular interest are materials from SAMS (Series I), where as president of the Society and also as chairman of the National Advisory Committee on Allied Health Apprenticeship and Training that the Committee developed national standards for apprenticeship training in a selected group of allied health occupations. He was most active in SAMS and its successor, the AAMSI (Series II).
